Rick created Leader’s Edge magazine from scratch for The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. After pulling a staff of contract designers, advertising reps and freelance writers together, and working with The Council’s supportive staff, Leader’s Edge launched in January 2004. The magazine filled a business publishing void for commercial insurance brokers.
Commercial brokers are not the agents you recognize in the corner retail store down the street where you buy your car and homeowners insurance. Brokers handle large complicated, commercial, insurance contracts and they make a very good living doing it.
Leader’s Edge focuses on insurance as risk, and what is sexier than that? The magazine covers the insurance industry from the broker’s perspective. Brokers represent corporate clients seeking insurance coverage and not insurance companies.
Since its birth in 2004, Leader’s Edge has won nearly 50 awards for design, general excellence and writing. Following a redesign in 2013, it may be the only magazine in the US that is square. Obviously, at Leader’s Edge, we think it’s hip to be square.
Check out the magazine and decide for yourself. You’ve never seen a business magazine like it. In a business community of conformity, we are the square peg.
